The AIDS 2012 conference will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (WCC) which is located in the heart of the District of Columbia at: 801 Mt Vernon Place NW Washington, D.C. 20001 (between 7th and 9th Streets, and N Street and Mt. Vernon Place).

The easiest way to access the WCC is by Metro, which is the public transportation system for all of Washington D.C. as well as the surrounding parts of Maryland and Virginia.

Please exit the train at Mt Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metro Station. The entrance to the convention center will be directly in front of you upon exiting the station. For more information, please visit: www.wmata.com/rail/station_detail.cfm?station_id=70

Metro fares are based on the distance traveled. Day passes are also available for unlimited rides after 09:30 on weekdays, and all day on weekends. Both farecards and day passes can be purchased at the metro station prior to boarding (farecards/day passes cannot be transferred to another person).

Conference Hotels’ Shuttle Services

Please note: the transportation service mentioned below is available only for delegates booking their accommodation through the AIDS 2012 Accommodation Department.

For delegates who have booked their hotel accommodation through the AIDS 2012 booking system, there will be shuttle buses available for transportation to and from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center which are included in the room rates.

  • Hotels located in Washington, D.C.: Due to the convenience of the MetroRail throughout Washington D.C. delegates staying within a close walking distance to the venue or a metro station can easily commute to the venue by riding the metro, which is the public transportation system for all of Washington D.C. as well as the surrounding parts of Maryland and Virginia. 
    For the conference hotels that are not within walking distance or on a Metro line, transportation by shuttle buses will be provided from certain pick-up points to the WCC and back.   For listing of the nearest shuttle location by hotel and shuttle schedules and click here.  

    Posters will be available in every hotel lobby to provide additional transportation information. 
     
  • Baltimore hotels: Transportation by shuttle bus (Sunday 22 July) and train (Monday 23 - Friday 27 July) from Baltimore to the WCC are included in the room rates. Please note that it can take up to 1h45 to commute from Baltimore hotels to the WCC.

Please refer to Convention Fare Code X71K-951 when making your reservation. This offer is not valid on the Auto Train and Acela Service. HITCH – The iPhone based car service
